OUR STORY
MAMO SKINN was founded by Mamokete Makolana, a Lesotho-born founder whose vision for the brand was first placed in her heart in 2017 and brought to life in 2025.
The idea was born from a deeply personal journey. Throughout her teenage years and into adulthood, Mamokete experienced her own struggles with her skin, making endless trips in and out of dermatologists' offices in search of solutions. She understands first-hand what it feels like to struggle with your skin, to lose confidence in the skin you are in, and to long for the relationship with your skin that you once had.
MAMO SKINN was created from that experience — with a simple but powerful purpose: to help people rebuild the relationship they once had with their skin before experiencing skin problems.
But as Mamokete looked deeper into the skincare industry, she noticed another gap that was close to her heart: people with albinism are often overlooked when it comes to skincare. Their unique and extremely sensitive skin requires thoughtful consideration, yet products specifically developed with their needs in mind can be difficult to find.
For Mamokete, inclusivity is not simply a word used by a brand. It is part of the reason MAMO SKINN exists.
She is committed to carefully researching skin-friendly formulas and exploring products that can thoughtfully also cater to the specific needs of people with albinism, while ensuring that they feel included, considered, cared for and seen.
I know how it feels to lose confidence in the skin you're in because of experiencing skin issues. I might have created this brand to help millions of people, but if it helps that one person who struggled more than me, that will be enough for me.
When it comes to people with albinism, society has shadow-banned them when it comes to skincare products. They have become less prioritized, and I created MAMO SKINN to include them — to make them know that they are cared for, prioritized and seen too.
I just want to take care of everybody who needs help with their skin, so they can regain their confidence and rebuild the relationship they once had with their skin.
